Bright |

Use brighter shadows in layer 2 or layer 3—not both. Soften the brightness with a brown shade in layer 3 or with a smudged eyeliner. For a more natural look, keep shadow on top lid and closer to the lash line. |
Natural |

We all want to look natural in our everyday lives. In order to do so but still look defined, you need to use neutral shadows, with not too much shimmer or color. Stick with taupes, mauves, and browns. |
Smoky |

This is actually a very easy look to create. It's important that you just work with layers with the darkest layer at the base of the lash line. Pair this eye makeup with a neutral lip to make a fashion statement. Use different shades of brown eye shadow for a more natural daytime look. |
Contoured |

Do not contour eyes that don't already have a double eyelid unless it's for a specific look, usually costume. It doesn't make your eyes look any bigger the way layering does. Here the contouring of the lid creates a dramatic effect because I used dark cream shadow. You can do a natural look with more neutral tones. |
Clean but Strong |

This is just one color of eye shadow on the base of the lid (layer 2). Notice how the look is very simple but still has drama. |
White Halo |

This is a strong version, but this look is widely used throughout this book in softer applications. Many love using shimmery colors around the whole eye in gold and bronze tones. It makes the eye color pop. You definitely need to team it up with a defined, thin line of eyeliner on the top lid to add depth and definition to the eye. |
Glossy |

You have to have a certain personality to pull off this look, because it's definitely funky. If you want to try a glossy lid for evening wear, lighter colors are recommended — even clear looks great. Make sure the gloss is designed for use on the eye area. |
