Put On False Eyelashes The Right Way

Many questions had been asked about false eyelashes, mostly because they seem nearly impossible to apply to Asian eyes and they look so great on us. They really make a difference in the way our eyes look. The most important thing to remember when applying eyelashes on Asian eyes is that the base of the lashes must be applied as close to your lash line as possible. To do so, look down when applying lashes. This makes it look more natural. For those of you who don't have a double lid, like me, lashes should also be applied away from the inner corners of our eyes (when eyes are open they will still appear to start at the beginning of the lash line, they just won't poke). I also prefer to apply eyelashes last, after the rest of the eye makeup is done. Applying eyeliner or shadow with the lashes already in place moves the lashes and loosens them.

Individual False Eyelashes

If you are simply looking to enhance your natural look, I prefer individual lashes. Keep in mind, though, that they take longer to apply than strips. First, I gently curl natural lashes and apply mascara. Next I dip the base of the false eyelashes into eyelash glue, using tweezers, careful only to get a small amount of glue on the base. I allow the glue to dry for a few seconds to make it more adhesive, then I place the base of the lashes close to the lash line, paying attention to any gaps there may be in the lash line. Doing it in this order gives false lashes the now curled natural lashes to balance on. Otherwise, the lash usually falls into the eyes.

Full Strip False Eyelashes

Strips are great for dramatic looks or for eyes that have very sparse lashes or a flat lid with no crease. I also love them for period looks. You can make strip lashes appear more natural by getting some with hairs that vary in length.

You can do full strips in two different ways depending on your preference. You can gently curl eyelashes first, apply mascara, then apply glue along the base of the strip. Allow the glue to get tacky for a few seconds, then balance the strip on top of eyelashes, attaching false lashes as close to the lash line as possible. (If necessary use a pointy cotton swab to push lashes closer to the base.) Curling first will give the false lashes something to lie on so you don't have to hold them in place. Your other option is to curl your lashes after you have already applied the false lashes. This will allow the fake and existing lashes to blend together. There are pros and cons to both techniques as you'll notice. With both techniques, use black liquid eyeliner if necessary to darken the glue line after the glue has dried.
